🕘 SCHEDULE AND WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS


🕥 10:45 – Gathering and introduction

Liina Tabri presents the day’s aims and activity locations.

🪴 11:00–13:00 – The secret world of plants and insects

Krista Takkis and Jelle Devalez

Together we’ll explore fascinating plants and get to know the secret lives of insects in Kuressaare Castle Park. We’ll learn how plants and insects support each other and how everyone can do something for nature. Great for adults and children alike!

🐌 13:00–15:00 – The diverse world of land snails

Tiina Talvi

We’ll dive into the world of snails—observing, identifying, and learning about their role in nature. Find out what they eat and why they matter for biodiversity.

🤖 15:00–16:00 – Marine monitoring with a robot: discover the underwater world

Ruttar Teär

An introduction to underwater robots and technologies used to study the seafloor and marine life. See in real time what the robot discovers underwater and what samples it can collect.

🪱 16:00–18:00 – Aquatic life workshop

Mart Mölder

Participants will get identification keys, small jars, and bottom samplers. Animals will be caught, identified, and observed through a stereomicroscope. All animals will be released.

🦦 18:00–20:00 – The European mink: a small animal with a big story

Martin Silts

Discover the life of one of Estonia’s rarest mammals and its role in nature. We’ll talk about its decline, conservation measures, and how people can help.

🌙 21:30–23:00 – Night bat walk

Oliver Kalda and Jelle Devalez

We’ll listen to bat calls with a detector, watch their movements and feeding over the water, and explore which insects they’re associated with.
